We Don’t Just Analyse Behaviour, We Interpret Meaning

When We Say “Function of Behaviour”

Let’s not reduce it to a formula.

“Attention, escape, access to tangibles”, sure, those frameworks can help. But they’re just the surface.

Function is about meaning.

And meaning lives in:
– Relationships
– Histories
– Sensory worlds
– Nervous systems shaped by experience

When we treat behaviour like a puzzle to solve instead of a story to understand, we miss the heart of what’s really going on.

Behaviour isn’t random. It’s rooted.

In emotion. In need. In connection.

So next time you are identifying a “function,” go deeper.

What is this behaviour trying to say?
